Public Star Parties are the heart of the RFO. Every month, you can hear fascinating astronomy presentations, then head outside to explore the universe through our three massive telescopes and a field of smaller telescopes. Each month brings new objects to see, and our knowledgeable docents are excited to help you view them all. Free for members!

Event Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Star Parties are the heart of the Robert Ferguson Observatory\u2014your monthly invitation to experience the wonder of the night sky like never before. Whether you\u2019re a lifelong astronomy enthusiast or simply curious about what lies beyond our planet, these gatherings offer something magical for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each month includes a variety of engaging astronomy presentations led by our expert docents. You\u2019ll hear fascinating stories about the cosmos and the science behind some of the objects you\u2019ll soon be observing. These talks set the stage for an unforgettable night under the stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step outside into the darkness of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, where the skies open up in breathtaking clarity. You\u2019ll have the chance to explore the universe through three of RFO\u2019s massive telescopes, each powerful enough to reveal extraordinary detail: lunar craters, planets, star clusters, glowing nebulae, distant galaxies, and more. In addition, a field of smaller telescopes brought and operated by dedicated volunteers, creates a dynamic, community-powered observing experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every month offers a new selection of celestial treasures, and our friendly, knowledgeable docents are excited to guide you. They\u2019ll help you navigate the night sky, answer questions, and point out objects that many people never get the chance to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At The Robert Ferguson Observatory (map<\/a>). Park in the gravel area near the horse corrals just outside the gate to the Group Camp\/Observatory site. You will need to pay the park day use fee to attend the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
