What Types of Events are at RFO?
The Robert Ferguson Observatory offers a variety of events, appealing to both amateur astronomers and seasoned star gazers alike. Every year looks a little different in what we offer, depending on what is prominent in the night sky and what new programs we have developed. For 2026, we are currently offering the following, and more information can be found on the individual event pages, as well as on our ticketing site, rfo.simpletix.com.
Youth Focused:
These programs are specifically for youth, ages 12 and under.
– Family Day
– Young Astronomers
Beginner Friendly:
No prior astronomy experience is necessary to enjoy these events. Youth are welcomed (other than Sips and Stars) if they can remain quiet and attentive during the lecture portions of the evening. Length of lectures vary but can generally run from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the event.

These events are family friendly and appeal to both children and adults alike.

Advanced:
– Deep Sky Astrophotography Processing (This class is for beginner astrophotographers, but some equipment is necessary. See class description for more details).
